My research foci are: 1) Pharmacy 4.0 which is based on the principles of Engineering 4.0 and applies artificial intelligence and sensor technologies in medication use systems, 2) improving medication use systems including analysis, creating, and determining the improvement strategies, and 3) implementing and evaluating the innovative pharmacy business, e.g., pharmacogenomics. My research goals are to design and implement innovative or improved medication use systems, in terms of patient care safety and efficiency, by incorporating the scientific management principles, latest hardware and software technologies, and cost-effectiveness principles. One of my credentials is developing the Pyxis MedStation® from the product concept to beta-site evaluation between 1985 and 1990 with Dr. Kenneth Barker for Pyxis Corporation. I have
received research funding from US private sectors, including Fortune 500 companies, such as the Procter & Gamble, Kroger, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Baxter Healthcare, etc.
